Hair removal: why one session is never enough
Hair does not grow all at once. At any moment, some of it is actively growing, some has stopped, and some is resting below the skin where you cannot see it at all.
Why sessions are spaced
Treatment only affects the hair that is actively growing on the day. Resting hair is untouched, and it appears weeks later as though nothing happened. That is not a sign the treatment failed. It is why sessions are spaced, so each cycle is caught while it is active.
It is also why the gap between sessions cannot simply be shortened. Coming too early means paying for a session that catches very little.
Before and after a session
Shave, do not pull. A day or two before, shave the area. No waxing, no tweezing and no hair removal cream for two weeks beforehand. The treatment needs the root still in place, and pulling it out leaves nothing to treat.
Avoid direct sun for a few days either side, and wear sunscreen if the area is exposed.
Afterwards the area may look slightly flushed, like mild sunburn, for a day or two. That is normal. Avoid hot baths, saunas and heavy exercise the same day.
In the week or two after a session, some hairs will look as though they are growing back before falling out by themselves. That is hair being pushed out, not new growth.
Area by area
Every photo here is a Prestige Medispa customer who agreed to share it. Results vary with hair type, skin tone and how consistently sessions are kept.
Underarms
The most requested area and the quickest session. Many people start here before adding others.

Upper lip
Fine hair on the upper lip shows most under makeup, because foundation gathers on it.

Cheeks
Fine facial hair that catches the light and makes skin look less smooth in photographs.

Neck and jawline
Often overlooked, and the hardest area to shave yourself.

Worth saying early
Hair tied to hormones, particularly on the chin and jawline, can return even after a successful series. That is not a sign the treatment did not work. Hormones keep working after the sessions end, so that area usually needs periodic maintenance.
For men, we treat the upper body only.
Every therapist here is female, and every session is in a private room.

No. Shave only, and avoid waxing, tweezing and hair removal cream for two weeks before. The treatment needs the root still in place.
Why does hair seem to grow back after a session?
In the week or two after, some hairs look as though they are growing back before falling out by themselves. That is hair being pushed out, not new growth.
